I used sex to help me forget.
To help me numb the pain.
Because for those few minutes of pleasure, I could shut it all off.
The reminders of all that I had lost. All that I had endured.
Of all that I saw die before my eyes.
I slept with a man I can’t get out of my head. It was supposed to be a one-time thing with no attachments and no commitments. No names were exchanged, no phone numbers swapped. And that was fine by me … until I lay awake at night, dreaming about that man’s caress. Wanting and yearning to feel his touch once more. But one day, my fantasies of seeing this man become an all-too-consuming, nightmarish reality. Suddenly, he is in my house, that cocky grin of his silently promising more to come. And the reason being? His father is getting married to my mother. We are going to be family.I am in the seven circles of hell. His look alone consumes my soul and makes me beg for more. He wants me and is determined to get me. I’m his obsession, and I’ve just become a slave to his infatuation … to the games he likes to play. The games he knows will have me surrendering to his will. But that’s not the only problem. That’s not the only reason I am living in my own personal hell. The year before I met my soon-to-be step-brother, Hunter … The year I made a decision that will ultimately end up destroying my very soul…
I lost my virginity to Hunter’s dad

Title: Promises
Series: Bounty Hunters #1
Author: A.E. Via
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: October 17, 2015

Duke Morgan owns and operates one of the largest bail bond companies in Atlanta. Not only does he bond criminals out of jail, he and his notorious group of bounty hunters will also track them down and ensure they show up for court.

Roman ‘Quick’ Webb is Duke’s business partner and best friend. Both men are in their forties and have given up on the happily ever after with the ranch-style home, and white picket fence. They’d both tried it and failed miserably. But they have their friendship and they have the business.

When Quick’s son, Vaughan Webb returns – after seven years - from studying abroad with his law degree in hand, he’s back to claim what he’s always wanted…his fathers’ best friend… Duke Morgan. Vaughan has always claimed to be a classic gentleman with an old soul. He didn’t party and screw up in school like his buddies. He was focused and dedicated to becoming the man worthy of Duke’s love.

It’s a complex and messy situation as Duke and Quick figure out how to still be best friends when one of them is sleeping with his friend’s one and only son. But when Duke is hurt on the job, all the unimportant trivialities fall to the wayside and Vaughan and Quick put their heads together to save Duke.

Part I of the Promises story is about Duke and Vaughan. Part II will be about Quick and his realization that it’s not too late for any of them to find love.

A one night stand can’t possibly mean forever…|
Detective Jared Manning met his match at a bar. After a night of passion, she sneaks out of his bed without so much as a note. Problem is, now he can’t find her.
Kindergarten teacher, Melody Nash doesn’t do one night stands. Embarrassment gets the best of her and she lies about her name.
When they collide at her school, Mel resists his pull. She won’t risk her heart on the obvious playboy, even though she can’t stop thinking about the night in his arms.
Stress engulfs Jared’s personal and professional lives. His brother is at the center of the joint case he and his partner are working in cooperation with FBI.
He puts his job on the line when he fails to share his blood relation. Complications he doesn’t need, considering the FBI agent on the case is convinced his brother killed her fiancé.
Balance is the name of the game. Can Jared save his brother and convince Mel they’re meant to be together?

Excerpt:

Jared cleared his throat. “Can I sit next to you?”

Her head whipped back around. “Why?”

He rocked back on the heels of his shitkickers.

Why?

Charm. Focus on being charming.

“I like to keep the company of a beautiful woman.” Jared smiled.

She frowned.

He stared. He couldn’t help it.

She frowned at a compliment?

Jared quirked an eyebrow and slid onto the chair next to hers, because she was never going to invite him to sit. And that made him want to join her even more. Intrigued the hell out of him. “What’s your name?”

Cocking her head to one side, she studied him. “Uh…Ren.”

“Wren like the bird? Cool name.”

“No.” Her cheeks reddened again and she looked away. “Umm…it’s…short for Renee.”

He watched her fidget before she’d meet his gaze again. His stomach churned at the thought of her being uneasy with him. He forced words out. “Can I call you Renee?”

Those eyes met his and he swallowed hard. Crystal blue, like a morning summer sky. Jared had never seen anything so beautiful in his life.

“O-o-o-kay. I mean, sure.” More shifting, so he reached for her hand.

Touching her resulted in a zing of energy shooting up his arm. Their eyes locked. Her lips parted and his mouth went dry.

He wanted to kiss her.

No. Jared needed to kiss her.

Before he could even lean in, Renee gasped and moved away.

“Which one of them put you up to this?” she demanded. The suspicion in her voice made him rear back.

He blinked.

Wanting to kiss a woman two seconds after meeting her was fast…even for him.

Get it together, seriously.

“Excuse me?” His voice cracked.

She looked away. “Never mind.”

Jared studied her. She was nervous. No…uncomfortable. Why? “Renee.”

When she met his eyes, his heart skipped.

“I want to have a nice evening. A drink. A dance. With you.”

She cleared her throat and Jared wanted to kiss it.

“With. Me.” It wasn’t a question.

He nodded. “With you. Is that a problem?”

Renee’s pale blue gaze raked his face. “No. I guess not. My friends are always telling me I need to loosen up.”

“Are they now?” He flashed his best charming grin. “Just so happens I’m pretty good at helping that along.”

Being a faerie princess isn't all it's cracked up to be...
Ivy must go to Faerie, but the gateway to the Wisp Court is through Tech Duinn, the house of Donn—Celtic god of the dead. Just her luck.
Unable to share her secret with Jinx, and with Jenna called away on Hunters' Guild business, Ivy must rely on Ceff and Torn to lead her to Death's door, literally, and back again. As if that wasn't dangerous enough, there's no saying what horrors lay in store within the Faerie realm. Too bad the Wisp Court is the one lead Ivy has in the search for her father—and possible salvation.
Maybe hiding away and dodging sidhe assassins isn't so bad after all...

EXCERPT
Wisps buzzed through the air, their musical humming rising in pitch as they darted in for a closer look. I sat on the mossy embankment and smiled, watching the playful wisps.
With my father’s key helping to guide us, we’d left the deadly bog and its poisonous gas behind. I breathed deeply, and let out a happy sigh.

“I don’t know what you’re so happy about,” Torn said, shaking water from his hair. “We’re covered in mud and smell like troll farts.”

It was true. The sulfurous swamp gasses did smell an awful lot like something that would come out of Marvin after he ate an entire cauldron of Kaye’s chili, but I didn’t care. We were alive. And so far, my wisp brethren weren’t trying to kill me.

I’m not sure what it said about my life that the lack of fratricide upon my homecoming made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Probably best not to think too much about it, and just enjoy the moment.

I shrugged, and kept on smiling.

“Well don’t get too comfortable, Fish Breath is on his way over with his pensive face,” Torn said.

He stalked off to sit on a rock a few paces away, but I shrugged again and closed my eyes, turning my face to the moon and stars above us. I wasn’t going to let Torn ruin this moment.

“Are you feeling well?” Ceff asked, settling on the mossy ground beside me.

I cracked an eye open, grinning from ear to ear.

“I feel great, never better,” I said. In fact, I felt a bit dizzy and my lips tingled, like I’d had too much to drink. Only I would get buzzed off the buzzing of wisps. “Just buzzed off the buzzing.”

I hiccupped, and giggled, the laugh coming out in an undignified snort that startled the nearest wisps.

“Are you sure that you are not angry, or afraid?” he asked.

I forced myself to look up into Ceff’s face. His head was titled to the side, as if listening for something, but his attention was focused solely on me.

“I’m fiiine, really,” I said, waving a hand. My eyes widened, and I let out another giggle. “I’m glowing.”

“Which is probably what has his highness’ panties in a bunch,” Torn said, coming over to tower above me, arms crossed. “There is something weird about seeing you smile like that, especially when you’re glowing.”

“What?” I asked. “I smile.”

“Almost never, and when you do, it’s usually because you’re killing something,” he said. “Not that I’m judging. I’m just saying Fish Breath has a point. You’re different.”

“She is high on power,” Ceff said, eyes going tight. “I should have recognized the signs sooner, but I was focused on our flight through the bog, and then with releasing the water magic that held our masks together.”

“You think it’s the wisps?” Torn asked.

“That would be my guess,” Ceff said, rubbing his jaw.

“This didn’t happen after our run in with those wisps in Ocean Overlook cemetery, did it?” Torn asked.

“No,” Ceff said. “Not that we noticed. But Ivy was badly wounded that night, and took days to recover consciousness. And…I…I was not at my most attentive.”

That was the night that I’d killed his ex-wife. Melusine may have been the raging psychotic bitch who’d murdered his children, and tried to kill us as well, but that didn’t mean her death had been easy on Ceff.

The memory of Ceff’s grief flooded me, pushing the giddiness away.

“I think…I think I’m back to normal now,” I said. I yawned, covering my mouth with the back of my gloved hand. Ignoring the encroaching bone deep fatigue, I tried to pull myself to my feet, but sank back down when a wave of dizziness nearly toppled me over. “I just need a minute.”

“You are exhausted,” Ceff said, brow wrinkling. “Rest here. I will keep first watch.”

“But my father’s court…” I said, but my words were cut short by another yawn.

“Will still be there tomorrow,” Torn said.

“Plus, I can scout ahead while you sleep,” Ceff said. “We will make better progress if we are rested and certain of the path ahead.”

“Fine,” I said, eyes fluttering closed. “But just a quick nap.”

The last thing I saw, before losing myself to the darkness of sleep, was a cloud of wisps hovering over me, lending me their warmth…and their power.

Lovers Gonna Love…

Family isn’t always defined by blood.

Sometimes family is born of love…

Loyalty…

And choice.

Sometimes the bond that comes from someone having your back through the shittiest of times is stronger than anything you get from genetics.

And sometimes you find that piece of your soul you didn’t even know was missing.

I’m a lucky guy like that.

I found a love that will never fade. I found a group of people who aren’t just my friends.

They’ve become my family.

There’s only one place to go from here.

I’m gonna bind myself to Rimmel in every possible way.

I’m gonna bring our family even closer together.

The past has taught me it won’t be easy.

Especially when faced with repercussions from a night that ended in death.

But that’s okay.

Family doesn’t quit each other.

Love like ours never dies.

Happily ever after isn’t just for storybooks.

Braeden and Ivy

“Blondie,” I said, a little firmer this time and peeled her off my chest. “What’s the matter with you?”

Her lower lip stuck out in a pout and then wobbled.

It wrecked me.

The vulnerability she was projecting fucking took me down.

She reached for me again and I let her in, drawing her close and allowing her to burrow in as close to me as she could.

I rocked us both back and forth, a slight movement, but a comforting one. Clearly she needed comfort. Maybe that’s the reason Rim had been driving.

“Did something happen today?” I asked, hoarse.

Whose ass do I need to beat? The possessive bastard in me demanded.

“Promise me something,” she said suddenly, pulling back and blinking the snow from her face.

“Anything.”

Her eyes cleared and she shook her head. “No. No promises. Just tell me I’ll never lose you.”

Relief filled my limbs and made them heavy. I wanted to laugh.

I must have smiled because she scowled. “Why is that funny?”

“It’s not funny. It’s just the easiest promise I will ever make.”

“It’s not easy. It won’t be.”

What the fuck was she talking about?

“Ivy.” A hard note creeped into my tone. “Listen to me and listen good.”

Her eyes bounced between mine, like she was searching for something… but I didn’t know what. I’d give it to her, fuck I’d give her anything if I only knew what it was she needed.

“You listening?” I demanded.

Really, I was stalling for time.

I had to pull out some words right now. We all know how very little I liked words.

She nodded.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into that beautiful head of yours today and honestly it doesn’t really matter. Not for this. I’m not going anywhere. Never. Hell, I should be the one asking you to make that promise.”

She snorted. Clearly she’d spent the afternoon with my sister.

“Its ridiculous, right?” I asked.

She nodded, but then I saw the doubt creep into her eyes.

I took her face in my hands, noting how cold her skin felt. “It’s just as easy for me to make that promise as it is for you. You have to trust me, baby. You have to trust that I mean it when I say I’m yours and it’s not going to change.”

Why, why was she suddenly being so… so… chick-like?

Hell, we made it through Missy, our mutual attempt to push each other away, rape, Zach… the list went on. Why was she suddenly needing to hear that I wasn’t going to leave her?

“I trust you,” there was no doubt in her voice. “More than anyone.”

It didn’t really matter. The reason. If she needed to hear it then I’d say it.

I tucked her into my side to shelter her from the cold and turned us toward the house. “Come on, Blondie, you’re sexy ass is gonna freeze.”

Inside the garage we passed the Hellcat and Ivy looked up. “I’m sorry, you totally don’t need my emotional baggage right now. Today isn’t about me. It’s about you and I’m dying to know how the meeting went with Anthony.”

I hit the button on the wall so the door could lower. As it moved, the garage dimmed with the lost sunlight. I stopped short of opening the door leading into the house and leaned back against the wood.

She fit between my legs perfectly and I clutched the lapels of her red coat and tugged her close. “My very existence is about you, baby. Everything else is just details.”

Her face softened. “I think that might be my favorite thing you’ve ever said. Besides of course I love you.”

Words for the win!

“Give me some sugar,” I ordered.

She obliged and kissed me.
