The past was pain.
The present unclear.

For Tyla Rand, her future couldn’t be bleaker. Death follows her everywhere, especially to those she loves. Being a member of the royal pack, she believes her time of happiness will come. That is, until wolves from her old pack show up missing. Her mission is to find them, but she won’t be going alone.

Sebastian Lyall, a true born royal and the one man Tyla's been trying to push away, has offered to help in her quest. Their journey not only brings out their true desires, but attracts the attention of another, someone from Tyla’s past. However, nothing is as it seems. Death is not done with her and now he wants her to pay. He won’t be satisfied until he’s taken everything away . . . including those she loves.

“Can I help you?” I asked, turning to face Sebastian Lyall.

His whitish-blond hair was perfectly coifed in messy spikes, his light blue, button down shirt matching the color of his eyes. The last thing I needed was to look into them. He’d had me tongue tied several times in the past and it ended up making me look like an idiot.

Smirking, Sebastian stepped closer, holding out a hand. “Would you care to dance?”

Rolling my eyes, I nodded toward the group of women in the corner who watched his every move. “Why don’t you ask one of your groupies? I’m sure they’d be more than willing.”

He and his brothers, Micah and Zayne, along with Colin, were hot commodities in our pack. They were all royal wolves—the elite. No female could resist them, except me that is. I couldn’t complain though; the royals helped make our pack invincible.

Sebastian leaned closer, his gaze serious. “I asked you, Tyla Rand. Besides, there’s something I need to tell you.”

“Why do we have to dance in order for you to spill? Just say it now.”

Chuckling, he grabbed my hand and pulled me to the dance floor. “What’s the matter, afraid to be close to me? I promise I won’t bite.”

Right. Huffing, I reluctantly walked onto the dance floor just when the tempo changed to a slower, sensual beat. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I growled. Other couples joined in and held each other, swaying to the music, while I stood there like a fool.

Grabbing my other hand, Sebastian pulled my arms around his shoulders and put his around my waist. “See? Not so bad.”

I glared up at him. “Just keep your hands from wandering. Now what do you want to talk about?” His hands snaked lower and I growled. “Keep it up and see where your hands end up next.”

Chuckling, he lifted them higher. “I like watching your cheeks blush. It’s sexy as hell.”

ARC Review: Wayward Son Book 4 Wayward Saints MC by K. Renee

Wayward Son (Wayward Saints MC, #4)Wayward Son by K. Renee

Collette Kindrick catches her boyfriend cheating on her and she decides to run for the hills. Heart broken and alone she finds herself in Vegas. Just when she is at her lowest fate brings Dominic Davoli into her life. He is a sexy biker, just the kind of complication Collette doesn’t need in her life. But she can’t resist his charming smile. He makes her feel beautiful and wanted two things she has never felt.

Dominick is destined to be the next president of the Wayward Saints MC. His father is gearing up to retirement wanting to spend more time with his new young wife and baby. It has been planned since the day he was born that Dom would take over and he is more than ready. He never wanted an old lady, club whores were fine by him. No ties, no chance of heartbreak if danger strikes. He never thought he would meet a woman who could keep his attention longer than a quick roll in the hay. Then came Coley— now he will do anything to make her stay in Vegas and in his life for good.

This is a great MC series. I love all these guys. It always warms my heart as I read each one of the sexy as sin men get taken down by the love bug. They all say never, but end up in the arms of the women of their dreams. I love Kay Renee’s MC stories and the way she writes tough women and alpha male men.

When Dominick and Collette’s one night of hot sweat sex turns into so much more, watch out things heat up right away. This couple burns up the sheets every chance they get. It’s not easy for this couple at first, Collette has major insecurity issues thanks to her jerk ex-boyfriend. Then Dom gets himself arrested leaving Coley waiting alone for him to get out.

Their love is of the insta-love kind which most of the books in the series have but I love it. That’s what reading romantic fiction is all about love at first sight.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Review: Smolder - A Bad Blooded Rebel Novel by Mellie George

Smolder: A Bad Blooded Rebel Novel (Bad Blooded Rebel Series Book 4)Smolder: A Bad Blooded Rebel Novel by Mellie George

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jude Miller has had tons of woman in and out of his bed, a successful music career and more money than he knew what to do with. When he decides to become roommates with Sadie Cavanaugh his best buddy’s sister he makes the decision to be celibate and cut all women out of his life. Two years go by and Jude has gotten very acquainted with his hand. He really doesn’t mind though because he would do anything for Sadie she has become his best friend and hurting her is not an option. Until he walks in on her coming out of the shower than things take a drastic turn in their lives.

"Our paths were meant to cross in every way...we both just had to let them collide."

Sadie Cavanaugh has loved Jude Miller from a far since she was a little girl. He always thought of her as a sister so in an effort to protect her heart she keeps her true feelings to herself. Even when they become roommates she manages to not let Jude in on how she really feels about him. It seems he is oblivious to her secret love for him even though others in their group see it written all over her face every time they are in the same room. Jude does however notice other guys looking at little Sadie like she is their last meal and he is not having it. When Sadie lets him walk in on her coming out of the shower to see where he will go with this opportunity everything changes for them.

"What would you call what we are doing?" he asked. "This is more than just sex. It almost feels like we're-" "Making love?" I blurted out before I could stop myself."

This is the 4th and last book in the Bad Blooded Rebel series and it is with a bit of sadness that I read it. I loved these characters all of them flawed and intriguing people. I am sad to see them go and I hope Mellie George will revisit them in later books. I knew I would love Jude and Sadie’s story and I was not wrong. I especially liked that Mellie did not wait too long to let them get together. It’s a rocky road for them as they both have obstacles to overcome. The sex between these two is immediately explosive and scorching. Jude is sexy and Sadie is a tough female character that I could see myself being friends with. Jude is a damaged soul who went through a lot in his childhood with an abusive mother, he feels unworthy of love. It doesn’t take Sadie long to realize she needs to show him how much he is loved by her and his band-mates.

"I never expected to fall in love with my best friend and I could kick my own ass for not letting it happen sooner."

They keep their love affair a secret from the band because Sadie is afraid of her brother Beau’s reaction and wants to ease him into the reality of their new found relationship. Jude starts off being okay with that but soon grows annoyed that she doesn’t want to share their news with the people they both call family. This becomes an issue for the couple that gets resolved when they least expect it. An unexpected event puts Sadie’s life in jeopardy and exposes their secret. Friendships and sibling relationships are tested. It was a pleasure to read this story this is really just a terrific group of friends who became a big unconventional family.

" Sadie, I know I've been having a hard time saying the words you want to hear and I hope you will keep being patient with me while I work this all out. All I know for now is that I need you, I crave you, I ache for you. I've been in the dark for so long and when I open my eyes to you it's like the lights were finally turned on."

Great rock and roll romance series I look forward to more from this author.

Cover Reveal: Enzo - Jinx Tattoos Book 1 by Shyla Colt

 Title: Enzo
Series: Jinx Tattoos Book 1
Author: Shyla Colt
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 29, 2016
Neglected, abandoned by a heroin-addicted mother, and placed in foster care at ten, Enzo Jordan has learned one thing…love hurts. At thirty-five, he has a successful tattoo shop and his choice of women. The one-night stands are getting old, and the love he holds for his best friend, Aibhlinn is impossible to hide. When the attraction between them reaches a boiling point, he's forced to choose between facing his fears and walking away.

Aibhlinn Leahy has been in love with her best friend for years. The Irish-born comic book artist has poured time, energy, and love into the wounded man. His choice to walk away breaks her heart but frees her to explore a new future.

Life is a cruel and amazing thing. An abandoned baby brings the two back together, and they’re forced to examine the love that has long existed between them. This is a story of pain, scars, and fear. We all have demons to battle. The real decision is who's in control…us or them?

People wondered about him and his best friend, Aibhlinn. They didn’t think a man, and a woman could be friends without jumping in the bed together. His theory was the exact opposite. Sex ruined things. It broke up lifelong relationships, made people paranoid, and upset the natural order you first had before romance entered the picture. No, his spitfire Irish lass with the piercing blue-green eyes and flowing Chesnutt mane would remain off limits forever.

The very thought of her made him smile. Even on his darkest day, she never failed to bring him a little happiness. He walked to the front door of his house and locked the door behind Tracey. A quick glance at the clock told him he had bout thirty minutes to get his ass into gear. He walked back over the maple hardwood floor and into the bathroom. The white on white tiles and glass shower enclosure made the room appear more open and easy to get into and out of, which made the space tolerable.

Turning on the hot water, he sank onto the bench at the far end of the massive stall and let the steam gathering clear his pores and his muddled head. Lack of sleep and beer had him feeling sluggish. After a few minutes, he rose to his feet, and stepped under the spray quickly soaped down, and rinsed off.

He was pulling on his plaid button up when the doorbell rang. A few moments later the lock turned.

“You decent birthday boy?” Aibhlinn called with the slight light he’d grown to love.

“Yeah, I’m coming out now,” Enzo said.

He appeared in the doorway and smiled. Dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans that hugged her thick thighs, and large ass, she was mouthwatering. Off limits, didn't mean he couldn't admire her assets. An off the shoulder Pink Floyd sweater showed off tantalizing porcelain flesh. She had her hair pulled up into a messy bun that showed off her long, slender neck.

“You ready to go?” she asked.

“What? No breakfast?” He asked.

She rolled her eyes “Smart ass. We’ll be back for that later. If you don’t hurry, we’ll miss the sunrise.”

He nodded his head and walked toward her, wrapping an arm around her waist as they hugged. He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Thanks for coming, Ave.”

“Where else would I be?” She whispered.

Anywhere, with someone worthy of your time and affection. It was his deepest fear. That she’d enter a romantic relationship, and their friendship would go by the wayside. It was selfish. Wanting her to remain his number one girl. She deserved more. It worked for them now. They were both artists obsessed by the act of creating.

The year were passing swiftly, and she’d gone from unknown to sought after in her career field. First come loves, and then comes marriage. He snarled, pushing the thought of the day she too would leave him far in the background of his brain.

“Come on, I’ll drive,” she said pulling him to the door. He allowed her to manipulate him.

At five-foot-eleven, she still lacked the strength to move him if he resisted. Along with fucking, he liked to work out. It kept his head from getting overcrowded and allowed him a healthy way to work out his frustrations. Locking the door behind them, he followed her to the black SUV. She hit the Fob and unlocked the door.

Enzo was at the driver’s side, opening her door before she could protest. He knew how to treat a woman. He wasn’t so fucked up that he felt a sick need to use and abuse them. His mother, the angel who adopted him and straightened his ass out, would skin him alive if he ever went that route.

“Thanks, Enz,” she said climbing into her seat as he made his way to the passenger side. He leaned back against the seat and zoned out as she pulled out of his driveway and headed for their destination.

Fog hung in the air, creating a thin layer of white. The haze turned the massive structure to something mystical, or creepy, depending on how one looked at it. Bundled against the fall chill, they made their way from the car and into Ault Park, headed for the Pavilion. After the climb, his eyes drank in the frosted landscape. He shoved his hands in his pockets.

This park held good and bad memories. His birth mother brought him here many times. Originally he thought it was because she was a good mother who loved the outdoors and knew he loved to be among the beauty the park offered. As he grew, he understood it was a public place to get her fix. No one thought twice of a man, a woman, and a child walking through the woods.

He’d never forget the first time his brain registered the cash she gave Uncle Ian was for drugs. The tiny brown squares were heroin. They’d found her body here on his sixteenth birthday, needle still in her arm, eyes vacant, and body cold. She’d turned a day he already loathed into something even worse. He inhaled, embracing the chilly air that crept down his throat and into his chest.

The ache meant he was alive. That he’d survived against the odds. Thinking of the days scrounging for food in garbage cans, stealing from the stores, and running drugs for dope boys to feed his starving gut he shuddered. She always saved the most fucked up shit for his birthday, like an anti-birthday gift. That last day she’d left and never returned was his twelfth birthday.

He bowed his head in solemn remembrance. All the bullshit made it hard for a guy to feel joy on the day he came into the world and landed in a pile of festering shit. But that’s not where you are now. He glanced over at the woman standing beside him as the sky yielded from an inky blue to a purple, and a dusky orange. The suns' rays turned everything golden and for that moment in time things were clean and new. The world was a hopeful place. The darkness was banished.

Shyla Colt grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but has lived a variety of different places thanks to her wanderlust, interesting careers, and marriage to a United States Marine. She's always loved books and wrote her very first novel at the age of fifteen. She keeps a copy of her first submission letter on her desk for inspiration.
After a lifetime of traveling, she settled down and knew her time had come to write. Diving into her new career like she does everything else, with enthusiasm, research and a lot of prayers, she had her first book published in June of 2011. As a full-time writer, stay at home mother, and wife, there's never a dull moment in her household.
She weaves her tales in spare moments and the evenings with a cup of coffee or tea at her side and the characters in her head for company. A self-professed rebel with a pen. Her goal is to diversify romance as she continues to genre hop, and offer up strong female characters.

ARC Review: Saved by Him by Michelle Horst

Saved by Him (Monster, #2)Saved by Him by Michelle Horst

Sophia only knows how to have sex. Her whole life has been about training her to be a sex slave. She is conditioned to only pleasure others. When she meets Adam and she thinks she is unable to please him her world starts to fall apart from there.

Adam realizes he wants Sophia more than he should, he is supposed to save her and protect her. That’s his job. For Adam— Sophia is different than any of the other slaves he has saved. Over the year with his partner River Sinclair they have help many slaves to be free but what he has seen and endured in his life has left scars. Sophia makes him want more than the life he has been living. Adam wants nothing more than to protect Sophia from the darkness she has suffered.

This book is written parallel to Saved by Her which was Jack and River’s story. You can read either book as standalone but I recommend reading both in order. Not for any reason except that they are really good books. Sophia was raised to be trained as sex slave. Her story starts off dark as she is used and abused by her masters. It is all she knows. So when she meets Adam and he requires nothing sexual from her she is very confused and scared that she has disappointed her master. Adam turns out to be her savior. As they start to get to know each other when Adam frees Sophia from her captors it is clear that they saved each other.

Sophia and Adam’s love story is sweet yet their passion for each other is strong. I thought the author did a great job of keeping with the previous story because some of the scenes do overlap. I could not find any discrepancies. This couple is perfect for each other there was no cliffhanger and a fantastic HEA.

I am really looking forward to the next books in the series from this author.

Jack was made a sex slave by his step father at a young age. He watches as his mother is killed and her body burned. Jack has many scars and his life is a miserable existence of abuse and unwanted sex from the clients his step father forces him and other slaves to service. Jack does it though to protect his younger brother. David is the son of Jack’s mother and step-father. Jack promised his dying mother he would protect him so Jack follows the rules does what he is told to keep David safe.
One day he finds out David has betrayed him this whole time— he is just like his father a mean, cruel, sadistic man who only wanted to use Jack for the money he could make them. Jack loses it and is beaten and raped to within an inch of his life.

This is the first book I have read by Michelle Horst I loved it more than I thought I would to be honest. It starts off very dark with Jack living in the mansion of his step father as a sex slave. River Sinclair shows up at the mansion Jack believes her to be just another client. She turns out to be his savior.

This story had a lot of emotion and turmoil. Jack has many obstacles to overcome before he can be the man he wants to be. He only knows how to be a slave and doesn’t trust anyone. It takes him some time to get used to the idea of being free.

River grew up with a cruel father who kept sex slaves she saw people raped, beaten and killed. When her father dies and she inherits his money she vows to use it for good. With the help of her friend Adam they embark on a journey to save as many sex slaves as they can. They have created a safe haven for all of them that has turned into a little family.

River and Jack have a magnetic chemistry. They both come from terrible backgrounds and they both have a hard time trusting. River starts off treating Jack like a child and not a man. When he finally stands up and declares that he loves her and she needs to stop treating him like a child the book just took off from there. It went from a dark story to a perfectly endearing and emotional love story.
This book can be read as a standalone, there is no cliffhanger and there is a good HEA. This book has rape, violence and death if these are triggers for you this is not a book you should read.
