Nick Foti left Riverdale New York, seven years ago, leaving his dreams and the only family he ever knew behind. Most of all he left the one girl that managed to completely unravel him. Samantha Lanza was his best friends little sister. She wasn’t meant to be his, she was his to protect like a sister.
When he finally decided he couldn’t fight his attraction to her, events unfold that force him to leave her and the only life he has ever wanted behind. Forced to work for his father in Seattle, Nick is miserable. He spends most his time in the boardroom playing the corporate mogul. The rest of the time he loses himself in a bottle and random woman that will never compare to the one he left behind.
One day Nick hits rock bottom and decides he’s had enough, he hangs up his suit and tie and sets out to reclaim the life he was meant to have. He heads back to Riverdale just when the family he has always loved as his own needs him the most. Everyone welcomes Nick with open arms, except Sam. She wants nothing to do with him. Can he convince her he’s a changed man who wants nothing more than to have her in his arms forever? Or is the betrayal she feels too great to forgive.
Nick rubbed his hand back and forth over his head. Christ, she drove him crazy. He had done his best to take care of her last night knowing that Sam and tequila didn’t mix well he remembered that little fact from years ago.
When she could barely stand and her friends were too wrapped up in their game of pool, he decided to take her upstairs to his apartment.
He had assured Phillip and Mallory that he’d take good care of her, resulting in them looking grateful that he had stepped up to the plate in fact, Phillip offered him some condoms and Mallory some words of encouragement telling him that if Sam didn’t remember in the morning he’d simply have to refresh her memory. Phillip obviously agreed with Mallory because he shoved more condoms at Nick after her statement. It seemed as if Sam’s friends were on a mission to get her laid he didn’t have a problem with that as long as he was the only one they had in mind to fulfill their quest.
He had carried her upstairs and the moment he set her down, she ran to the bathroom and threw up all over his bathroom and all over her dress. He wasn’t even sure she had made it to the toilet bowl. It had taken every bit of self-control he could muster up, to peel her out of the dress she wore and cover her up in his shirt.
Just his luck, he mused, he waits seven years to see her body again and she’s unconscious. He blew out an exasperated sigh as he headed naked towards his bathroom. He needed a cold shower. The plus side of last night was that he had a nice picture of what she hid under those clothes. That should tide him over for a while. He glanced down at his hardened cock, who the fuck was he kidding?
“We can be good together. I know we can, but you need to be willing to go all in, because I won't have you if I can't have all of you.”
This is part two of The Riverdale Series, I really loved the first book Pieces and could not wait to see what happened with these amazing characters.
Broken Pieces concentrates on the relationship between Nick Foti and Samantha Lanza. Sam and Nick had a moment years ago and then Nick left without explanation. Sam was devastated, but went on with her life.
Now Nick is back and he realizes as soon as he sets eyes on Sam again, he wants to pick up where they left off. But Sam has other ideas, at first.
Nick is a true alpha male, with a kind heart. Sam keeps pushing him away and for a while I was like what the heck is her problem! Then we find out a secret she's held that lets us understand why she feels like she can't give Nick a chance.
The chemistry between them is so strong that even Sam finds it hard to resist Nick's charms . He manages to get her into some pretty steamy sex that just about fogged up my e-reader.
Events unfold in the Lanza clan and Samantha finds out she needs Nick more than ever. Will she allow him in long enough for Nick to convince her that they are meant to be?
The story flows really well, I believe it was very true to the characters established in book one. Once again, I felt like I was part of the group. I laughed at some parts, and cried at others. Sam made me mad a few times, but then the author made me understand her broken heart.
There is a nice HEA and a few surprises as well as a very well written lead into the conclusion Fitting the Pieces.
Highly recommend the series, it a really AMAZING read.
“Sam, I'm not good with words. I've rehearsed this a thousand times in my head in the last twenty-four hours, and nothing I could say comes close to what I'm feeling. What I've felt for what seems like forever.”
