Darren Cole was supposed to be a one and done deal. But he refuses her advances for a roll in the hay insisting that she deserves more and he won’t take advantage of her like that no matter how much she wants him to. Wow now we can’t help but fall for this unbelievable man like head over heels immediately. Darren was sweet, kind, loyal and hard working. Throw in sexy as sin and that makes him damn near perfect. So of course Kiki has to keep him snug in the friend’s zone because the last things she needs or wants in her life is a man.

Darren has way too many responsibilities that need his attention in his life to get serious with any woman. Someone like Kiki, beautiful, fearless, quirky and gorgeous would be great but he can’t have her. But he can’t help but be drawn to her creative, beautiful, feisty spirit.

Neither one of them can resist the desire they feel for each other, but it turns out to be so much more. It turns out they were both missing something in their lives they hadn’t realized. They grow close as friends with lots of sexual chemistry. When things start to heat up they both break their promise not to get to close and from there their love grows.

Heartbreaker was exactly what I would expect from Kat & Stone Bastion. I loved the slow burn and chemistry Darren and Kiki had from the moment they met. The way they grew to know each other and slowly feel in love was beautiful. These authors tell an amazing story of love, depression, sacrificing for the ones you love and finding yourself.

The whole Michaelson Family makes an appearance, which I just adored. I love the characters from the No Weddings Series. This is a spinoff of that series but you do not have read it to follow this series. However, No Weddings is one of my favorites and I highly recommend it. The Michaelson Family is so much fun to read. Kat & Stone Bastion write family, love and sexy romance you will surely become addicted to.

Looks like the next book will be Mase’s story and from the sneak peek in this book it is sure to a page turner. I can’t wait.
