Bound for Danger (Deadly Ops #2) by Katie Reus
Action and Suspense
This is the second book in the Deadly Ops series, but can be read as a stand-alone.
This is the first book of Katie Reus that I have read and I really enjoyed it.
I want to go back and read the previous book Targeted.
Marie and Cade are strong, likeable characters. The story is just filled with non-stop action and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat as I read.
Maria overhears terrorist planning destruction, she ends up in an explosion at the benefit after hearing the terrorist plot. She wakes up with no memory she is in a state of shock and grief and quickly finds out the NSA believes her to be a person of interest. Since she is the only survivor of the blast.
Cade O’Reilly is an NSA agent, he jumps at the chance to question Maria when he sees her name on the lone survivor list from the blast. She is the woman he can’t forget, the younger sister of his best friend. He is the man who deserted her when she needed him the most and never told her why. Nothing will stop him from protecting her not even Maria herself. She’s trying to remember what happened that night he and doesn’t make protecting her easy for him at all. But he is up to the challenge if it means he gets to protect her and be near her.
The building of the relationship of these characters through emails while Cade was in service was very well written. It helps us to understand the feelings these two characters developed for each other over time. The attraction is still there strong as ever years later, even though both of them fight it. Cade needs to gain her trust and Maria needs to believe he cares.
The author gave us very interesting background characters, that kept the story exciting.
